Do you think Nathan ever loved steph on days of our lives or just used her to get to mel?

I think in the beginning she was just a rebound after he lost Mel to Phillip, but after they were together for a while he did learn to love her. Steff did treat him great except for her lying but when it came down to it he just couldn't ignore his feelings for Mel, especially after what Phillip did to her.
